Chickens

Chickens, Chickens and more Chickens

I think we've cleared all the hurdles for the time being.

I’m getting settled back into my office after a busy late summer and early fall. We’ve had a lot of stuff to deal with these past few months but I think we’ve cleared all the hurdles for the time being.

It was quite the shock to return home from Hawaii last week on the day a freak winter storm hit Colorado. What was supposed to be 1-3 inches of snow turned into one of the worst early fall snow storms on record with a wet 20 or more inches hitting our neighborhood. To make matters worse, I hadn’t prepped my snow blower for the upcoming winter season, so I had to dig it out of the snow and get it running. And of course, it didn’t want to run very well. I decided over the past 20 years that it had done enough and it was time to buy a new one. Order placed and my new 250cc Ariens 28 inch self propelled snow blower, which will be here this week. Some assembly required. We got the driveway and sidewalk shoveled with no heart attacks, thankfully. Wasn’t really expecting all that after a week lounging on a beach in the tropics.

Before I left for Hawaii, I attempted to upgrade my office PC with a mini-PC desktop. I had it about 90% configured when it decided to fail so I temporarily abandoned the effort until I returned from my trip. I have a new mini-PC now and it’s pretty much configured. It’s an ASUS NUC PRO. So far, it’s working like a champ. As a matter of fact, I’m typing this blog entry on it now. My Dell XPS 17 Laptop is still a good computer, but it’s now in the laptop bag and waiting for travel duty. The ASUS NUC PRO is much faster with a more modern Intel CPU.

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m in Chicken mode at the moment. I’m still laughing at the fact that Kaui is full of wild chickens. I even bought a new baseball cap with a Kauai chicken on it.

Life is strange.
