Great Blue Heron in flight during mating season. Nikon D7200
One of my favorite birds to photograph is the Great Blue Heron.
This photo was made in March of 2017 using a Nikon D7200.
At one point the Nikon D7200 was one of about 5 different Nikon DSLR’s I kept in my gear cabinet. It was a competent camera and when coupled with the Nikkor 200-500 ED VR lens, it could make a pretty nice photo.
Lucky for me, there is a lake not far from my house that is a great location for photographing Great Blue Heron. I always tested my camera’s abilities for birds in flight at this lake and on this particular spring morning the D7200 was called into service. It was up to the task too. Not bad for an inexpensive, consumer grade APS-C body.
