One of my all time favorite moose photos, made in late August of 2013 using the Canon EOS 7D with the EF 100-400mm IS L. By today’s standards, both camera and lens are fairly dated, but there was a day when it was a solid wildlife setup. Solid enough to get this photo.
Believe it or not, I used a flash on this shot. Contrary to popular myth, animals generally don’t react to a flash.
This image has always been shown as a B&W photo, as I liked the high key nature of the scene. I also have so many moose in water photos, I wanted something to look a little different. It has served me well over the years. It’s always been a good seller, has won a few photo contests and prints hang on the walls of some fairly well known people. 11 years later, it’s still a staple of my portfolio.
