Two bull moose on a rainy late July afternoon.

Here’s one from July 24th, 2022.

During the summer months when I was working from my cabin, each day I would have two moose photography sessions. The first being early in the morning before sunrise, after which I would break for lunch at mid-day. I’d then head back out in the mid-afternoon and finish up at sunset. On a typical day, I might spot 20-30 different moose (couldn’t count the same moose twice)

How do you know if you’ve already seen a moose? Well, one looks for identifying features such as it’s general build, the antler pattern, or the dewlap. The dewlap was the best way to identify the animal, because almost every animal had a different looking dewlap. Some long and sculpted, some short and stubby. No two looked the same.

I found these two big boys having their lunch on a rainy afternoon, shortly after beginning my afternoon session. The moose action was so good, it almost became boring (not really), I’d see them so often, I hardly even noticed.
