Close encounter with a Bull Elk during the annual rut a few years back.
I’ve had pretty good luck with elk photos over the years, despite not having put a lot of effort into finding them. This photo was made in Rocky Mountain National park. A friend and I were making a pass through the park one morning and came across this guy trying to impress the females. I positioned myself below a hill where two cows were laying and as he got to the ridge of the hill above them, I was able to get a nice series of photos.
