Here is a photo I made in November of 2022 of two bighorn rams sizing each other up during the rut.
Catching a couple of rams in combat isn’t an easy task. If I’m lucky, I see it happen once a year. If I’m even more lucky, I can make a good photo.
In the case of these two, there was a lot of posturing and bravado, but they never really went head to head. After a few poses and posturing, they went on about their business of trying to convince a ewe to mate. They didn’t have much luck at that either.
