This location was made famous in the 1969 motion picture, True Grit.

A little scenery and movie history for Saturday.
This scene is from the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. This location was made famous in the 1969 motion picture, True Grit. The climactic scene of the movie where John Wayne and Robert Duval & his gang had their big horseback shootout. The location is near Owl Creek Pass with Courthouse Mountain and Chimney Rock as the backdrop. Known locally as Deb’s Meadow, I visit this location any time I drive over Owl Creek Pass near Ridgway, Colorado. It’s a great place to stop and and have lunch while enjoying the Autumn drive over Owl Creek Pass.
