Here’s a random photograph I made in 2016 on my annual Autumn photography trip.
I have a story that goes with this photograph.
On New Years Day of 2025 I was hit suddenly with a bout of kidney stones and needed to go to the emergency room. I walk into the reception area and check in, they ask me to wait on the couch. While I’m sitting there, I’m looking at the framed photographs they have on the walls of the lobby and hallway and I turn my head around and see this image hanging on the wall above my head. It was a pretty good size print, at least 36 inches wide, nicely framed. I do a double take and stare at it a little closer. Yep, that’s my photograph all right, hanging on the wall of the local urgent care clinic at United Healthcare. I don’t know why I didn’t see it when I walked in, maybe due to being distracted by the pain I was in and such.
When the nurse finally comes to escort me into one of the treatment rooms, I’m walking down the hallway and they have another of my photos hanging on the wall in the hallway, maybe a 16×20 size. I can’t remember which photo it was, one of my San Juan Mountain shots as I recall.
I sell this image from time to time on my stock photography catalogs, and they also turn up in online print sales catalogs. I’m not sure where they got it from, but at least I found where one of my sales came from. It makes a very nice looking large print, so I can see why they put it in the lobby.
As for the kidney stones, I underwent treatment after my New Years Day episode and ended up having surgery, which I have since recovered from. Today I’m doing just fine, but it screwed up my life until April of this year. At least it didn’t kill me.
