this test shot became my all time leading seller in my stock photography catalog.

This month, August, my hottest selling stock photograph on Getty/iStock is a “usual suspect.” This photograph is always at the top of my sales totals.

This photograph was made as a test photo to demonstrate a composition technique during a workshop I was hosting in the San Juan Mountains. As it turned out, this test shot became my all time leading seller in my stock photography catalog. Go figure.

The scene is Mt. Sneffels and Dallas Peak on the Dallas Divide near Ridgway, Colorado in late September of 2017.

This was an interesting early morning outing during a week of turbulent weather. Complaints about lousy weather were constant, and I explained that bad weather isn’t a show stopper. It’s an opportunity. Some of my best photos have been in lousy conditions. I framed this up to show what could be done with the scene.

The camera used was the Nikon D750 with the Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens. This is not only a hot seller on Getty Images. It sells heavily on Adobe Stock as well and has been at the top of my sales on my other agencies for several years.

It has been published in newspapers, magazines, book, seen on television and by numerous Internet and print travel and informational websites.

It’s a gift that just keeps on giving.
