While The Snow Falls

Sitting in the office today, watching the snow fall through the window. Sipping my coffee and wondering when I’ll get back out for some photography.

This is a dreary time of year here in Colorado. Though still officially a month away, winter has descended upon us. The temps this week have been hovering in the 20’s – 30’s, and though the snow hasn’t been deep, it’s already iced the driveway to my house. Once it passes, I’ll get out there and clear things off.

I’ve been playing with video editing during this boredom. I have several video editing software packages, but I’m not convinced that I need to invest large sums of money in the most current offerings. I just don’t have that much video footage that I can really do much in the way of meaningful story telling. Mostly oddball clips and lots of old stuff recorded with less than stellar video gear. My camera will do 4k video, but I spend so much time making photos that I don’t give them a lot of love when it comes to recording video.

My most recent purchase is a dash cam, which I’ve played with and it will be doing a lot of work when I venture back out in the future, as it will be on my photography vehicle and recording all the time. But the vehicle has spent the better part of this week at the auto repair shop having some needed work done to it. The old Explorer runs pretty well, but it’s been having minor issues and it was time to get them fixed, being a dead time of year and all. Lucky me, they completed the work late yesterday afternoon and I got it home before the latest round of snow hit.

With all my recent down time, I have had the chance to get my stock portfolio updated to over 5,000 images, so that’s an accomplishment. But, I have to feed the beast and sitting on my butt in the office isn’t accomplishing much. Maybe I’ll get out and look for some bison after this snow stops. I’m always motivated after a snow. The bison seldom cooperate though.

Maybe I’ll get in the hot tub tonight. Nothing like bubbling away in a steamy spa while the snow falls.
