The Moose Chronicles – Catch Light If You Can

Bull Moose – Northern Colorado 2022

Moose have a lot of photogenic features. It’s one of the reasons I love to photograph them.

Of course, the habitat where they are typically found isn’t all that photogenic. Lots of sticks, twigs, plants, dead-fall and rocks are usually part of the scene. But, if you can get a good look at the more interesting features of the moose, it sort of negates the busyness of the environment.

When doing head shots of moose, I always look at the eyes. Those big eyes reflect a lot of light if you catch them looking in the right direction. Add to it a few warts and you can get something compelling.

I think moose have the most interesting faces in the wildlife kingdom. They have personality too.
