A New Year

American Bison by Gary Gray

My buddy Tim contacted me late in the afternoon on New Years Day wondering if I’d like to go to Rocky Mountain Arsenal the next morning for a little photography. I took him up on the idea and we made the trip, leaving an hour before sunrise in 5 degree temperatures.

It was a nice way to start off the new year. Tim and I haven’t been able to do a lot of photography together over the past couple of years. The pandemic, I’m retired, he isn’t, little things add up to little activity it seems.

I was recently looking over the bison photographs I made in 2021 and I quickly realized that none of them were made in snowy conditions. Solved that problem on January 2nd this year.

Oh, and I managed a few deer in snow photos as well. Woo-hoo.

White-tailed bucks in the morning light on a cold and snowy January morning.

2022 is off to a good start I think.
