Calhan Paint Mines At Night - Photography Workshop

Calhan Paint Mines Interpretive Park

Cost  $150 per person.

2017 season has concluded.

Check back for my Schedule for April and May in 2018

I've been offering photo workshops at the Calhan Paint mines for several years now.

My next trip is scheduled for the evening of May 21st, 2016.  The night of the full moon.

This workshop is for amateur or professional photographers with an intermediate level of photography knowledge.  Equipment required will be a Digital SLR, wide-angle or telephoto lens, tripod, remote camera trigger.   We'll go over equipment prior to the event.

I'll teach the fundamentals of night photography in a rural dark sky setting with lots of interesting rock formations.

I've been doing these sessions at night in the past and we'll continue this workshop as a night sky photography workshop in 2016.

The evening of May 21st will be the new moon.

We'll arrive on location late in the afternoon for some sunset photography and remain on location in to the evening for our night photography.

Located about 30 miles east of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Calhan Paint Mines Interpretive Park is a well hidden geological attraction. The area is filled with hoodoos, spires, wild rock formations and colorful clay deposits.  The night skys in this location are brilliant and excellent for photography.

If I have 3 or fewer attendees for a session, I'll provide the transportation.  You may of course provide your own transportation to the location.  If we have more than 3 people, we may need to buddy up on automobiles.  These details will of course be worked out at the time of the event.

The location is an easy 1.5 hour drive from the Denver metro area.

The paint mines are a great spot for creative landscape photography and teach attendees abstract landscape photography and night sky photography where you'll learn how to get star trail and milky way photographs amongst the strange geological formations.

I am able to set up private tours not on the schedule, so contact me if you would like to schedule a session for another date this spring or summer.  If I can do it, I will.
